Hi all,
I need to check out of Turkey for one day because I have been there for five years. I was thinking of checking into Greece for one night, then back to Turkey. Will I be liable for the new Greek cruising tax even if I only stay one night? My alternative is to stay a night in a bay.

Last I heard the Greek cruising tax had not started yet, so no (unless I am out of date)

I've had to check out 3 times in the past and I've never actually left Turkish waters. I've never been asked for any proof of where I was coming from. Last time was in 2015 and I actually overstayed because of a mix up on my part. I had to pay a ceza [fine] and was told I wouldn't be able to re-enter for 6 months because of overstaying. However a friendly official told me that the customs computer system was regional rather than national and that if I reentered in a different region I'd be OK. Worked no problem.
If you're not going to do an official entry in Greece there's not much point leaving Turkey. Just go out somewhere for the day and back in after the Government offices are closed. Ask at your marina office and they'll tell you if you need actual proof of being out of Turkey but I doubt it. Greek tax not yet in force as far as I know.

I've checked out of turkey and back in again, when I was on the hard in marmaris, and on a pontoon in fethiye. The officials are usually accomodating. An agent will usually, make the arrangements.
