I was just speaking to a mate who's in St kat's and as I was on the phone to him a large mobo broke loose from it's warps. The yachtie next to it acted promptly... by walking to the marina office to tell them. ???

Luckily my mate had the brain power to grab some warps off his boat and secure it again. No damage done. Apparently they had chafed and got weak. This wind finished them off.

I'm scared of breaking loose in moorings and hitting other peoples boats. Kudu has such a low freeboard, and so rubbing strakes that I expect the damage wouldn't be too bad to, my my CQR would not gel gelcoat friendly to other boats.

So, I have a bowline round a solid cleat at the bow, run down to the buoy, back to the cleat, and cleat it off, then run it back down to the buoy via the other fairlead, and do the same. It keeps the boat a bit more centered on the buoy/current too.

A yacht with single mooring line chafe seen at Christmas when on hols....luckily missed all the other yachts.

Oooh, I was in St.Kats overnight, came out at 0630 this morning. Breeze didn't get up really until we were down off Canvey - usual dud weather forecast which had said 6-7 SW all night and all today. Did eventually start gusting a bit at times though late morning, we saw 38 knots several times.
Nice trip - St. Kats to Harty Ferry in 8.5 hours, just a bit wet and bouncy from the Nore Swatch into the Swale.

Don't I know it! Although thankfully I didn't see, or notice, 38 knots.
The journey down the thames is nice if it's bright, but it turns to misery when overcast. The combination of cloud and glumness with the heavy industry along the river make it feel quite sad I found. The sun definitely brings out the best in the Thames, in my humble opinion.

An impressive river though, but not quite appreciated unless you've been along it I think. It seems reasonably tame when you're living next to it in London. Unnoticed perhaps, but heck is it powerful.
