Must confess do get a bit nostalgic for sitting on the dockside in puddle of hydraulic fluid and emulsified gearbox oil desperately trying to get the U/J to line up with the jackshaft while smothered in greasy crap and scratched to buggery with barnycules,watching everyone else go boating.Get a boat with outdrives, go on, you know you want to.

Fernox DS-3 descaler is based on sulfamic acid
Rydlyme is based on hydrochloric acid
Some brick cleaners are hydrochloric acid solutions

Descale ... Update.
Rigged up pump system with raw water/impellor pump bypassed with 200cms of copper tube between inlet and outlet hoses.
Old diesel transfer pump used to pump 5L of Dynamic Descaler through gearbox oil and engine heat exchanger reverse flow for 2 hours (ish).
Some rather funny looking sludge emerged but no lumps.
Out in morning to see if temp reduced. !
