Last year I bought a new North main.
One thing I didn't take into account was that the new sail material, being much stiffer, took up a lot more room, making my old stack pack very difficult to use.
So I decided to make another, somewhat bigger version.
SWMBO had also decided that we were going to change our cover/dodger/sprayhood colour to grey.
During a search I fell over same waterproof material with a similar external look and feel of sunbrella but at under £7 a linear meter, half the cost of sunbrella.
See this link

The material feels pretty good and sturdy and is easy to sew and hem.
Time will tell how its effected by uv.

Just a little matter of making dodgers, sprayhood and halyard bags.........

Cordura is a nylon based fabric .Quite tough ,usually not very breathable because of the back coating .It will fade quite rapidly .Shorter life than acrylic canvas .

Somewhat modified.
30hp yanmar instead of the original 12hp, get me to the start line only engine.
100lt fuel tank instead of the 10lt - see above
Shorter masthead rig instead of the whippy 10 ft taller rig with runners.
Plus lots of specific cruisey stuff as opposed to bare bones go faster nothingness.
Inc coffee machine, fridge etc and even fairy lights that SWMBO insists on using whilst in foreign ports.

Methodology was to take something fast and make it slower and more comfortable as opposed to something slow and comfortable and struggle to make it go faster.

Comments noted re fading and how long it will last - we shall see.
Part of the exercise though was getting better at making everything which in the long run will save £££
