I have decided to go all out and purchase the Raymarine S100, which appears to be about £420.00 ish. I recon that it looks better and must be better quality. And as I only need to buy it once, can move it to new boats and sell it easily if needed, it is worth the extravagance. Everything about boats is an extravagance.
If it helps you to justify the cost, mine is more than 17 years old and has survived many knocks and lots of water and still working well and is always attached to my lifejacket when underway. The controller takes two AAA batteries and the battery compartment requires a very small cross-head screwdriver to open and not easy to replace the batteries while underway. I use these batteries which have a long life

You can't carry your ST6000 around the boat, you have to stay at the helm, so this gadget controls your ST6000 remotely.
I understand what it is but not why anyone would need one, to me, leaving the helm and throttles is the same as leaving the cockpit empty.

Maybe different for a raggie on a long crossing and I'm sure I'll be criticised for the above but each to their own.

See #14 #15. I use mine in the cockpit as well. Handy around my neck.
