Does anyone know of the discounters ie Aldi,Netto or Lidl, doing a special offer on clothing or anyone else for that matter.I bought a ski jacket this time last year from Lidl and used it for sailing this season and was very pleased with it,£29.99 I think.Unfortunately youngest son has purloined it and so I need another one.

Decathlon do some superb gear. Jacket for £40 which I love. Breathable salopette trousers for the same but only in the London store /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

When back in UK - I know a shop on industrial estate in Petersfield, Hants. They supply farms, road companys etc. all sorts of gear. They also carry a large range of Regatta gear more in line for boating. Prices are good, gear is good -"Jacket / trouser sets" - mine and swmbo's are now some years old and still like new ... with removable fleeces.

Yes Decathlon seem to have some good stuff, but unless you are unfortunate enough to live near one of their stores there is no way of buying it.

Taking your requirement for 'cheap' literally, SCREWFIX do a Waterproof Suit (jacket and trousers) at £8.99 (the navy PVC/Nylon, not the even cheaper yellow PVC.) 42085 on page 587 of current catalogue.

Have had one for several years and totally waterproof. Comfortable and has a decent zip!. The XL fits me fine so is quite generous /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do you mean cheap in the long run or cheap for now?

I went for a suit of Guy Cotten stuff which was cheaper and more waterproof than gore-text etc - and more resilient than any other waterproof suit. Cost about £100 for salopettes and jacket, but it'll last me for years.

Some people warned about condensation issues but I've really never had a problem despite wearing the full suit on some pretty damp days - and I am a heavy sweater. My suit is a little large for me so I look like a clip in it tho /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I buy mine mostly from military sales. You've got to like brown, blue and olive though.

Not only that , you have to be built like a 22 yr old squaddie with a 32 inch waist !

Never managed to get into any of it so far !
