Is it worth a punt on one of these or is it clearly a scam?
Home Watches
80 dollars not a lot to lose if it goes wrong. But maybe they can take 8000 dollars once they get your card details. If it seems too good to be true then it probably is.
But it is tempting for 80 bucks.

100% a scam, it's not possible to sell at those prices.

If ever wondering, I always go to the terms and conditions because (a) you expect to see them and (b) these are very hard to do well for a genuine business and so scammers just copy and paste someone else's and don't think too much about it.
Seems to be operated by 'Wayfair' and then refers to Ebay.
Interesting section 18 that it is supposedly governed by the laws of the UK: we have two different legal systems and this is an American 'company' on the face of it.
Who precisely are you buying from? Look also at the email contact - doesn't fill you with confidence

They do offer Paypal and Applepay as payment options, so that seems fairly secure, but I would have expected that they would charge an extortionate sum for shipping, but no, still only $10 to an Irish or UK address, so becoming more suspect. And no mention of import charges for overseas customers, even they offer comprehensive overseas shipping.

If you look at their address on their contacts page and stick it into Google Maps it comes out as a genuine location just east of Los Angeles. However, it is a branch of Lowes. Lowes is a chain of DIY and garden centre shops in the USA along the lines of B&Q in the UK. They sell bags of compost, patio furniture, flooring, plumbing stuff, building supplies, and unlike B&Q, home electricals. I can't find a mention on their website for marine electronics, but I'll keep looking and update here if I find any.

Strangely, they don't seem to deliver to the UK either.

I don't know about ApplePay, but PayPal is less secure than using a credit card; if you use a credit card, the card issuer can be chased for reimbursement in the event of failure to deliver or the goods not being as described. PayPal does not offer the same protection. And most credit card transactions over some limit these days require a two-factor authorization before the transaction is completed, with a one-off code being sent to a mobile phone or email address before the transaction is authorized, so ONLY a transaction you authorize in this way will go through. In general I am wary of companies that only offer PayPal as a means of payment.

AFAIK there is a lower limit below which credit card companies cannot be used to reclaim money: I suspect the sale price of these scam sale items is just below that.....

This is totally a scam the whois records all point to it be set up by someone in Japan. The only option to pay is by credit card (the paypal logo is just a logo they don't offer it as a payment option). All the reviews they list on the site relate to Costco and the site has been put together from a number of other sites - its a scam site for sure.

But Paul, their website says it is a closing down sale and their warehouse is full of them and they need to sell at knockdown prices. That's why the price is so low. I sense from your post that you don't believe them. :ROFLMAO:

Ok guys, much as I suspected initially and now you've convinced me. I won't be sending any of my birthday money in their direction.
