Stupid loss of Garmin 72 leaves me with no regular position input to Vhf. Any reccomendations for a cheap gps dongle which can output nema to go to the radio will be welcome. Does such a cheap solution exist or do I have to buy a gps set with Outputs?
Thanks in advance

GlobalSat BR-355 from EBay, £25. You will need to cut the connector off and supply it with 5V, but that's only another £1 from Ebay if you use a car socket USB power thingummy.

Thanks Angus and Fantasie.
I'm not very sure about electronic connections so please bear with what may seem a stupid query. On the e-bay site there is no spec showing output etc or wiring diagram.
Does it output the NEMA format and which wires are which if I cut off the plug, as suggested, to connect to the radio?
Regards
Jim

Here is the full Specification

Pinout...

It zips out NMEA on the Tx pin. I have one talking to my VHF.

Pin 1 to your 5V supply ground and your radio NMEA- in.
Pin 2 to your 5V supply +.
Pin 5 to your radio NMEA+ in.

May I thank Angus for the suggestion, I had some problems with my fixed GPS feeding both the Seatalk network and the DSC Radio, I used the setup above for the DSC Radio and it worked perfectly.

FWIW, I used a 7805 component to get the 5v input to the GPS: 12v to the left leg, NMEA ground to the central leg, red wire of the GPS to the right 7805 leg
