Cheap \'fixed\' car GPS

I have been using TomTom sat nav running on a Dell Axim for about 15 months now, and would hate to be without it. During that time, I've become a big TomTom fan, and would be a bit reluctant to spend serious money on another mapping system.

However, I'm getting increasingly fed up of having to reboot the pda, and twice have had to do a full clean install of all software, which is a bit of a trial and error, due to copy protection issues with TomTom and perhaps some Dell/SD card compatibility issues, where data will apparently randomly become invisible and then sometimes reappear on reboot.

Now there are a few 'fixed' car systems available for about £400. Namely; Garmin Quest, Navman 510, and of course`TomTom Go.

I'm considering relegating the pda for just marine use, and buying one of these cheap fixed systems for the car, but which one?

My liking of the TomTom mapping would steer me to buy a 'Go', but I've read a report that suggests that the Navman is the best of the bunch, with the screen on the Garmin Quest being too small.

Any forum users with experience of such devices? And how does the Navman mapping compare to TomTom?

The Navman PiN pda is excellent. (mine came with all Euroland roads which makes getting about in 'funny' places dead easy). Completely self contained and small
£300/350 now.
So much so that I am toying with getting some charts too on the sd card and having a stand alone back up for marine use. It showed me my progress down the river on IOW recently but obviously without any soundings or buoys.

Agree Tom Tom Go is best of the bunch, I Have the Garmin but will switch to Tom Tom Go when resources permit. Do not be swayed by 'special' deals on the others, they are 'special' for a reason...
