Cheap Chinese Diesel Heaters the Return !

Well as no Christmas sort of this end I decided to finish the final install of the heater. The first thing to remember is the Chinese read from right to Left so the up and down buttons (which point left and Right) are reversed to Western logic. ie

The button that points to the left turns the temp up, and the one that points to the Right turns it down on the unit. The remote is actually labelled - and + and off and on as the pic below.

I have the new style display/controller and it has fewer buttons than the previous model. I only have up, down and combined on off button. Pic of mine below

Below is a video of mine in the final position at various stages of running. The hole I made in the Cabin will have to be made larger with more insulation as after about a 10 min run I could see signs of browning on the wood. This exhaust gets very very hot so you must pay attention to this in your final install

All in all however this is a very very effective heater. It raised the temp in our 5 x 4 m log cabin from 10 degrees C to 17 Degrees C in about 10 mins.

In the video the display looks like it it flickering. In real life it is not it is the Video shutter speed causing this. Also the real life noise while not quiet if much less than it appears in the video as the Iphone seems to have a very good mic on it.

All in all very pleased indeed

As mine is fitted in a 'log Cabin' I was getting signs of wood burn at the exhaust hole which is drilled on a diagonal. All I did was to file the hole to about 42 mm dia and have put a length of I think 40 mm dia Copper pipe so that the exhaust goes through this. This pipe is about 100 mm long so that when it heats up it acts as a heat sink so that where it touches the wood is not hot enough to cause an issue.

Tested it for about a 15 min run and all was good. In that time it raised the temp of the 5 x 4 m cabin from 3 degrees C to 15 degrees C.

I could continue to power it from the 12 v battery of which I have several or I could see if I can source a 12v power supply

No because then the exhaust gases could easily mix with the inlet and you would be heating cold air. Besides they are not designed weather wise to be outside in my view

Mmmmm, what i did was to find a stainless steel oil burner cover, something like this -> Boiler cover.

I drilled two holes from the interior of my home to the exterior at roughly the same space apart as the warm air outlet and cold air inlet. I got 2 80mm pieces of round stainless steel tubing and i inserted this into both holes in the wall, with about 2 inches proud inside the house. I left about 4 inches proud on the outside.

I finagled my boiler casing into place and marked it where the tubular stainless steel meets the casing and cut to holes at 100mm in order to lag the pipe.

I then took the Chinese heater and marked on the inside of the casing where it needed to go. I went and i secured it in the correct position. I then connected the tubular stainless steel to the inlet and outlet using some flexible heating piping.

I took the exhaust and placed a silencer on it and from the silencer added another 100mm of exhaust and the fumes are now downwind 80% of the time.

I had to dismantle the LCD controller and lengthen the wires to get the into the house.

I also added a 12v transformer from the mains to run the heater and a 12 v batt that is on trickle charge as a back up.

I placed the fuel tank in another container that i placed beside the heater.

The heater i have is one of these 8kw Chinese Heater.

Works well, i have to say.

Some heat off them in a short space of time and they practically run on the smell of green diesel.

This is what i used. 12V Power Supply

You use one at home , do you mean she’d .

I use it in the house. The only pieces that are inside the house are the

Cold Air Inlet.
Warm Air Outlet.
LCD Controller.
12v transformer.

The rest of it is outside.

It's the same thing as having it in a Camper van, except i have it in my house.

Looks like you have set it up well. I can see how that can work. You are correct that they put out a huge amount of heat for very little fuel burn

There was a hell of alot of faffing about with it, as this was the first one i ever seen let alone installed.

I paid €125 + €10 shipping for it on Ali Express. I got the casing for free, brother is a plumber, i had all the core bits and other tools myself, so it took me the best part of a day to get it up and running.

Couldn't fault them. There is a remote control in with the LCD controller i have, i don't even have to get out of the chair to switch it on! :D

Superheat6k of this parish installed one on his boat and found the unit to be very effective and safe.

Another forum member stated to him that they " catch on fire" but when challenged for evidence remained silent.

It is true that Eberspacher and Webasto were operating a price fixing cartel in 2015. I understand that Webasto dobbed Eberspacher in to avoid a fine....

It is also true that the selling price of an item determines how people view it's quality in many cases. I sell a camping related item for 3 times the going rate for other similar items and receive glowing reviews because of that!

It's all about perception in the end......
Hi Nick and a Happy New Year to you.

Well two years of reliable but occasional service from the Chinaspacher saw it last start as part of pre-sale checks and then again at hand over when I sold Boadicea in October, when after a couple of priming runs after the Summer saw it burst into life (note NOT flames) without a problem.

I did fit a safety overheat circuit that in the event of an overheat of the outlet (100oC) would cut the power to the fuel tick tick pump, but never did the outlet get even close to the trip threshold.

Also throughout I have remained assigned on FB to the Chinese heater users group, mostly on motor vehicles, and not one mention of one catching fire anywhere.

The one I received was CE marked - was it genuine ? - did not / do not care. I explained the background to the buyer, but I also informed my Insurer when I fitted it who were also not concerned.

So the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I am no fan of the Chinese ability to contaminate this World with biological agents, but the product here is a near copy of an Eberspacher D4 at ~ 10% the price. I myself bought an Eber D4 for my prior boat and whereas it worked, it worked no better nor worse than the Chinaspacher. Was it worth the £1,400 I shelled out - DEFINITELY NOT.

So from a practical perspective and IMHO a very effective product that beats proven cheats (mis)selling their versions. This website if for Practical Boat Owners, and this is a very practical now proven technology for those who use their boats in the cooler weather.

I now have one in my workshop for Winter use only. I fired it up a few weeks ago after 9 months sitting non used, it started first time and had my workshop garage up to 18oC in ~ 20 minutes despite the up over door being open and outside was ~ 3oC.

You choose.

I wonder why we don’t see these fitted to any production boats ? there’s a good reason for that.
