Cheap Chinese Diesel Heaters the Return !

So here is a video of my heaters first start up and run from new. I am testing this outside but when used indoors it is vital to make sure about the following amongst other things:

1) The Exhaust outlet is not leaking
2) The Exhaust gets very hot so make sure it is not touching something that it ought not.
3) Make sure the Air to be heated is drawn from a place away form the Exhaust outlet final position
4) Fit a Carbon Monoxide detector in the space it is being used in
5) Only buy and operate one of these if you feel confident in how to set it up and understand about Carbon Monoxide and its dangers.

These can be very good but they need a little work and are not what you might call 'Plug and Play'

Here is a link to another Chap who knows how to set the Pump Pulse rate to Temp when you set the desired tempreture

HI Dennis, what is the fuel tank capacity please? Also, does the exhaust pipe touch the floor or is there enough room to route it so that it hangs in mid air and allow for pipe insulation etc.?

Tank Capacity = Exactly 4 l trs
Yes you do need to put it on feet (very easy) to get the exhaust clear of the Base you will be standing it on

In France there is a paraffin heater which is brilliant because you dont have to vent it to outside, Its a Corona Inverter Space Heater Built in Japan. Thousands sold in France, many supermarkets sell them.
I recently sold one on eBay which I bought 12 years ago and it was working perfectly. They are a bit dear but if in the UK paraffin was not so expensive I would have kept it.
Many garages in France have a Paraffin Pump and many supermarkets have 25 litre drums for sale near the Paraffin heaters.
PS Its has an internal computer so when the temperature in the room reaches the temperature you have set it slows down and uses just a tiny bit of paraffin.
For perhaps £40 more for Japanese Quality which you dont need to vent this is what I would buy.

I have posred on here about the Corona ROLF - Reduced Odour Liquid Fuel - heater we used for three seasons early and late in the year to extend our sailing season.
It did EXACTLY what we expected and was used with a separate CO meter as well as its inbuilt Oxygen sensor. It shuts down if it senses low oxygen.

Needless to say I was castigated by some blowhards on here.

But I expected that :(

I ignored them and kept on using it for its economical warmth?

It burned very cleanly and made little smell.

Still have it.

You never know...........................

Sounds Interesting. My Farther used to heat several Green houses on Parifin heaters so I suspect this is a refinement on those older heaters

Is this the thing

Corona RX2485 2.4kW Liquid Fuel Heater WITH FREE FUEL - Liquid Fuel Heaters - Heaters

That is the one.

We had an Island Packet 350. It had lots of bells and whistles, including a 16,000 BTU air con system. This could be reverse cycled for heat, but only on shorepower.

The Corona was almost, but not quite, enough to keep comfortable.

But did make a significant difference in cold weather. An extra sweater and heavy trousers made up the difference.

Good video thanks Dennis. I may need one for my big shed. I would buy the Southern lasers silencer which I have on Zoom as it's a quality exhaust.

As you say, common sense when installing is essential. There is a good Facebook group that covers almost every installation and operation of these heaters.

Eberspacher and Webasto must be smarting at the impact these are having, mind you, it's devine justice after they were done for running a price cartel for years.....

Press corner

Have heard only two problems so far from long term high usage Chinaspacher owners.
1 x heater glow plug. £13.00
1 x fuel pump. £12.00

A new ECU for my Eberspacher cost me £182 in 2019 .

It did occur to me to get a chinese unit at the time . The new ECU was the easier option.
Thankfully it has been okay since then.

@Bigplumbs - maybe wise to change the green fuel pipe as they are not as good as the white/clear fuel pipes sold on other CDH's (or use marine grade pipe) also note its positioning in relation to being close to the exhaust

Interesting point about the green pipe but it has been ok on the boat and the other one in the shed. Something to make sure you can see and keep an eye on

Well several years ago I posted what became a very long and shall we say interesting thread about Cheap Chinese Diesel Heaters. Enough time has elapsed to establish that they are actually very good and reliable and my 2, one in the Boat and the Other in My workshop have been working very well for a few years now.

I have now bought for the Princely sum of £85 all in delivered an 'all in one' unit that has a variety of uses me thinks, provided you can successfully duct the exhaust gases to the outside air. You are of course burning fossil fuel to keep warm but to my knowledge there is not a viable Battery powered alternative.

I am thinking this could be used under the canvas on a fly bridge, in and awning for a caravan or camper or even in a suitable tent, In a garden shed, Workshop, Garage or similar........ Just remember that exhaust.

Here is a little video of what you get. I will be firing her up soon and posting some more info. Let us all know what you think.

I don’t think it will keep the fletcher warm.

The main objection I'd have is that it's putting a lot of moisture into the cabin, but if you can live with that then carry on.

I’ve got a great wee challenger Mk2 (version of a Chinese heater) installed in my wee fletcher SC19 GTO. Amazing thing. Hundreds of hours on it now. Not an issue yet. Nice and toasty.

Yes Devine justice indeed. Sad thing is people still judge the quality of an item by its price This is of course sometimes true but not in this case. Even after all the publicity some simply can’t believe that an item that is £100 is just as good and possibly better than the same thing by a different company at £ 1,300 plus

the price of something is only that figure the seller writes on the sticker nothing more

The reason these heaters are cheap is that the internal parts are made of steel, so when they corrode they could pose a serious CO poisoning risk. They are a classic case of you get what you pay for. If you read the fine print in the instructions, most have a warning about not using them in inhabited spaces or similar terminology.
