I followed this thread with interest http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?382812-Cheap-Chinese-AIS-Transponder
I'm unconvinced of the usefulness of AIS class B transponders but the unit itself is excellent, a colour AIS plotter, NMEA GPS output, routes and waypoints though obviously not charts. The fact that it merrily pings out a class B AIS signal will appeal to others as well. It does some other fancy GPS/AIS stuff but not necessary, I just like the redundancy of having my RADAR/Plotter backed up with a seperate AIS plotter and the main plotter isn't cluttered by all those pesky AIS signals, which I shall now add to with my own rather pointless signal
I enquired about price and had to do a bit of haggling but got it down to £204 including delivery, for me that's a bargain. The email address for ordering is sales003@huayang-tech.com and the ladies' name is Susan Liao. Ordering is via Paypal which gives a strong measure of security.
Someone ponted out that the unit is a rebadged Furuno or rather Furuno stick their badge on this
