Cheap alternative to stabilisers

if you are still in the Canaries see if you can get Biodramina con cafeina from a pharmacist - usually does the trick as long as you take it before it gets lumpy.
my personal favourite is ginger biscuits and full fat coke.

When I first started boating I was worried about my own motion sickness. But I found it was like the back seat of a car. In the back seat I get sick, when I am driving, never. I have conquered my motion sickness and with the kids have a sure fire cure in Stugeron 15 and they dont make the kids drowsy if started the night before getting on the water. Anyway, despite all the anti motion sickness remedies you may receive, my tip to your first mate is to take the wheel when the first symptoms of motion sickness start to appear. I find that works a charm

Ditto for taking the wheel and Stugeron. I buy them in a box of 100 for £7.50. Take 2 the night before travel and as directed on the pack the following day.

I second that. The reason it works is that she will be looking at the horizon. I was only ever seasick once, on an American round-bottomed boat which rolled horribly in a beam sea. Skipper said get out on deck and stare at the horizon, it worked brilliantly. I think the reason is that the human brain needs to see a stable horizontal reference and the horizon provides it.

round bottom boats! Many years ago when I was doing my commercial ticket and sea survival training we did a stint in an enclosed ships lifeboat as part of the course. It was in choppy Cape Town waters and was done with a crew of hardened Norwegian and Philippino crew. Everyone felt sick almost immediately and it became a contest as to who wasn't going to break first. IMO sea sickness is contagious because when the first chap puked it was a Mexican wave followed by near mutiny.
