Anyone use navigation charts on a laptop computor,
There is a rumor here(Barcelona) that they can be down loaded free, if yes, where and how does one keep them up to date,?

If you search the sailing forums for OpenCPN and CM93 you should find what you are looking for.

You cannot keep electronic charts up to date (not PC ones anyway). You have to download new ones.

Please remember with electronic devices such as computers it is not IF it is going to fail but WHEN!

Print the suckers out as a paper backup.

There is no supplier of electronic charts that has up-yo-date data. Admiralty charts can be corrected - - - at a price.
There is nothing wrong with elect ch but you really need a good nav system to go with them. I use Sea Pro
And I still have 350 paper charts in the locker as stand by.
AND I have twice had to fall back on them.
