As I plan to cruise more extensively over the next few seasons I will have to build up a bigger collection of charts and cruising guides.

Looking at the Imray website I see various of their folios (the 2000 series) date from 2015 but do not have a date when a new edition is likely. Since they are £39.50 (some £45) a time I want to get the most recent! Is there any rule of thumb as to how long in time before they publish a new version? I did wonder if the comment "Low stock" suggests they are running it down in order to replace it.

Thanks

Re charts, I suspect it will be rule of thumb! I say that because it depends on the changes that provokes the new editions. Imray - last week issued the new Y17 (which as you will know - The Rivers Colne, Blackwater, Crouch and Roach). The cause is that the UKHO have just issued the latest edition of 3741 (October) (The River Blackwater) by dint of some new surveys and a local nutter with a yacht. There were some professional surveys twix Harwich and the Colne Bar/Bench Head. But the only really obvious change needed on 2000.1 (2015 edition) is the SW Sunk swatchway! Imray have been digitising their charts this year but I don't know that includes the Folios. I'll have a conversation on Monday if you like.

Peter, I'd suggest you ring them and ask.
In recent months they've invested a lot of money in digital printing equipment and I understand their intention is to do only short print runs so that updates will be incorporated very much earlier.
