i have just bought a lowrance5150c plotter and wondered if i could use a fishfinder transducer connected to plotter plotter reads nmea0143 i have searched but am getting more confused, thanks

From the spec I would say no. There is no sounder built in to the unit.

Dunno about the Lowrance, but the Standard Horizon chartplotters have a fish finder attachment and the software is already built in.
