I reckon that they should double the cost of mooring charges, drop the red deisel tax concession for boats, add 5% to the income tax of boat owners, make all boat owners take exams, wear a lifejacket at all times, make the maximum speed of motorboats 4.3333 knots, tax all spares by 100%, have a 3 monthly MOT.,

The powers that be on Windermere have already acted on most of your recommendations:

Mooring Charges are already there
Diesel was approx 50p per litre last time I looked
Chandlery must include the tax (only possible reason to explain prices)
Speed limit - well you know about this

It can only be a matter of time before "the friends of the Lake District" pick up on your other suggestions.

Are you now looking for something smaller?. Costco have a three man inflatable dinghy for £60 including pump and oars which might fit the bill

Regards

Try this one Byron:

They have recently introduced capital gains tax on boats. You pay 40% of the sales proceeds, with no deduction for the original costs. Dont forget this when you come to do your return. :)

Re: Right Then..

I think they ought to DOUBLE the cost of buying any kind of caravanette, especially the Winnebago's.

Make it compulsory to be under fifteen stone to drive one (you'll only have to drop about ten stone or so)

Enforce a law where all tyres must be renewed every three months on the things.
And..
Supply every vehicle of this type with a skin tight rubber suit with barbed wire lining which must be worn by the owner at all times (that you'd probably like).

:)

What boat you getting next big B ?

Re: Right Then..

<font color=blue>Serious Syd, I went out this morning bought copies of MBY., MBM., & Boats for Sale. Frankly there's nuffink in there that gives me the remotest echo of an erection barring an old cargo ship. There is a Colvic Beta Trawler Yacht that slightly tickles me fancy but as she is 1979 so she became sexually less attractive to me. Bit like Eileen when she hasn't shaved.
What I might do is Ship and Yacht deliveries only which means I will get paid for my expertise, a few squids for yacht deliveries around bundles of dollars when delivering a large ship. (and seriously think about a Winnebago.)

You've got it wrong jfm, it's 40% on the new replacement value of the vessel sold, so on a 43' boat, reckon new value now is about 250K, so tax due 100K, payable immediately!!

Re: Right Then..

Dump the Winnebago, if you're serious about a big camper go for a Mercedes Hymer, fabulous quality and well thought out.
