Dunstaffnage just asked for £93 for storing my cradle in the summer. I pay their annual full 12 month berth and winter ashore contract. My cradle sits in space that no-one uses in the summer. I have never been asked to pay for this before. Is this usual? Have I just been lucky in the past?

Quite common. Just another way of extracting money. Difficult to argue against it if you have no other place to keep it.

I've known yards charge for storing trailers, so a cradle isn't much different. It's down to the yard's policy. A modest charge doesn't seem unreasonable. I used to take mine home, but that takes effort.

£50 + VAT for me. Two years running they asked if they could use it as they were short of cradles and they gave the fee back. They also fitted new turnbuckles.

I used to collapse it but not now.

My neighbour's cradle comes to bits and he takes it home in his trailer. I'd have done the same if I'd thought about it 20yrs ago.
