Hi,
Have recently bought a Channel Island 22 which has exceeded my expectations
In terms of seaworthiness. Hard to believe sometimes it's only 22ft when you're out in it! The recommended oil for the 150 Ford Dorset is Essolube XD-3 30. Plus other old oils too! Is the Essolube still available or can anyone recommend an modern alternative? Thanks-Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Welcome to the forums!

I noticed your thread had slipped down the list with no replies so a quick bump back to the top!

I'm no expert on oils, but specs here: http://www.esso.com/India-English/Lubes/PDS/GLXXENCVLESEssolube_XD-3_30_40_50.aspx

Looks like the Mobilgard M30 is their equivalent now, but worth checking! http://www.exxonmobil.com/marinelubes-en/products_medium-speed-hfo-use_mobilgard-m30-series.aspx

Any pictures of the new boat? (We like looking at boats! :D) Also, where are you based?

Best regards,

Robin

A quick call to Mermaid Marine will answer your question. If I can remember the oil we used to use in our CI 32 I'll let you know.

Thanks for all the answers. Mobil Exxon came back with the following which might be of assistance to others. No pics to hand but will post some in due course:-

Dear Sir,

thank you for your enquiry.

Product Essolube XD-3 30 is no longer available. You may consider product
MOBIL DELVAC 1330, which is the closest replacement, or MOBIL DELVAC 1630
with improved additivation.

MOBIL DELVAC 1330:

MOBIL DELVAC 1630:

You will find list of authorized distributors in UK here:

Regards,

Not sure if improved additivation is a good thing so will probably go for the Delvac 1330
