I´m planning on looking at a boat fitted with these engines. It´s a 2004 boat and clocked up 1700hrs. Is there anything I should be particularly concerned about or aware of? Any specific maintenance tasks that should have been carried out?

Iirc the anodes on the coolers often get neglected or just are ineffective resulting in intercooler and other cooler failures.
Ok if kept on top of maintenance wise .So I would focus on those .
You will see corrosion and weepy seals etc if the maintenance has missed them .

By all means look at the boat to see a) if you like it and b) if it appears to have been reasonably well maintained.If youŕe still interested a general survey and a thorough inspection of the motors by an experienced mechanic should follow.
