Caribbean bareboat charter

The Baths

With regards to The Baths. Fantastic place, not to be missed.

However, it gets very crowded.

Top tip! Its a bit of effort, but get there around 7:30 - 8:00 in the morning. We had the whole place to ourselves, it was terrific. At about 9:00 we were at the car park end and three coach loads of Japanese tourists arrived. We legged it back through the rocks to our dinghy at the other end and were back onboard our yacht for breakfast by 9:30 having had agreat start to the day!

We will be in the Grenadines this Christmas any tips for there appreciated.

new boat at good rate

Hi Magnum.
I haven't read all 3 pages here so don't know if you are set up for your bvi trip.
In case it helps I am in the Sunsail Ownership programme having bought a 38' catamaran off them this year. This provides me with several "points" per year to obtain similar boat or monohull up to 43' (bigger boats are also available at further modest payment). So if you wanted to use some of my points for a consideration at well less than commercial rate you would get a new Sunsail boat presented exactly the same as though you had paid the top whack for it. I can't use up all my points myself before end Dec so it could help us both out. Use would have to be before 15 Dec if in bvi.
You can contact me at unknownsailing@hotmail.co.uk and see my website at www.unknownsailing.com (note endings are different!)

Can anyone recommend a company who has newish boats in the 45ft+ bracket for bareboat charter in the Caribbean? Google returns lots of value orientated providers but all with boats around 4-8 years old. Don't want to put SWMBO off just yet, so would prefer something newer.

Ta :)

I used to have my boat in charter with TMM in the BVI ( http://www.sailtmm.com ) and I suggest that they are well worth a look.

All their boats are specced out by the boat owners and are consequently much better equipped than most of the Sunsail/Moorings fleet. There is a mixture of new, nearly new and some 5 or 6 year old boats.

They also provide free cell phone based internet access with wifi routers on all of their boats. Can be useful.

Personally I'd rather charter a one or 2 year old boat than a brand new one. Bugs have been taken out and things haven't started failing through age.

You'll have a great time in the BVI - the snorkelling is fantastic. Second PD on Anegada- a fantastic place and the only 'long sail' in the islands with a bit of an offshore feel, don't miss it.
