All...not wanting to advertise!

Just an invitation to visit the Cardiff Marina Open Day on Saturday 3rd July and enjoy a BBQ, band and hopefully some sunshine! More info. at www.cardiffmarina.com

It is all free and if you want to moor for the weekend a special rate.

Sorry...free for all visitors. For any standholders (who are welcome) a modest package to help with costs. It is not a profit making event but meant to be some fun for all.

We'll be there ............ already "recruited" by Allan of this parish

Was that after I had been drinking? I have never been to a Cardiff marina open day so can't say if it is good or bad. I did however point out to lots of people that our club, Cardiff yacht club, has free visitor moorings available.
Allan

Free at yours, Good but for 5 quid to berth in Cardiff Marina you get entertainment, beer and a bbq along with meeting people.

Yes I agree, my comments were more about the other 364 days of the year. If I'm around that weekend I could be tempted to go over for the night. I will have to look at the club calender. Are there berths available before the new bridge? As you say the special £5 price is great value.
Allan

The new bridge "Opens" (though not officially and regularly until later in July) so we are able to comfortably berth both up and downstream of the bridge. Water, electricity and free Wi-Fi etc to all berths.

Is there any restriction on length there ? I think I read something recently that they could only take up to 37ft .......... but I can't remember which marina or club it was.
Also do we have to make a booking prior to arriving ?

Very comfortable up to 75ft and can go larger under arrangement with water depth to 6 metres available (note Bay is generally 3.5 metres). Best to book in advance. Can by done through marina website or calling 02920 34 34 59. The phase 3 of the marina was built especially for larger boats.

At Cardiff yacht club we have a maximum size for club boats of, I believe, 36 feet by 12 feet. We recently had the square rigger from Thornbury, called Marjorie, I think. Which seems greater than 36 feet. I am off to the club now, so will check with a committee member.

We are aiming to be there, is the beer free aswell? ;-)

Big hats off to Cardiff Yacht Club as they accomodated us again (for free) the other night!

I spoke to a CYC committee member today, he says the size limit does not apply to visiting boats. They prefer people to ring the club in advance and spend some money over the bar when they are there. The bar is open Wednesday to Saturday nights plus during the day at weekends. Breakfast and lunch are served on Saturday.

Many thanks Allan

Yes all events etc are free (beer, BBQ, Band etc) as well as fun activities including canoe trials (also free if you want to try) etc etc. Objective is to have fun and invite people to come and meet us.

The weekend special berthing rate (£5) allows you to moor adjacent to the event and of course see the facilities at first hand. We are very proud of them and are keen for people to see for themselves.

For free beer I'll swim over :-)

Re CYC - we were there on Monday night and left Tuesday AM The bar was shut, so no chance to spend any money which did make us feel a little guilty.

Have stayed there in the past, but a bit of a trek to get anywhere other than the cub house.
Stayed there the night we towed you over from Mermaid Quay - Whitesnake, remember? :-)

Yes i do remember....got a good picture with us and Whitesnake... i will dig it out ..... I still owe you a few beers for thet tow.
