Car quandries (it is boaty, sort of...)

Re: Car quandaries (it is boaty, sort of...)

Had a honda prelude for a couple of years when we first took over the boat. W could just about squeeze the o/b and dinghy into the boot. The bags then had to take up one of the back seats piled up to the ceiling.

The two dogs then took up the the remaining back seat. Often SWMBO had the odd bag in the passenger foot well. Between an hour and a half to two hours drive to the boat.

Eventually fitted a tow bar and towed a little trailer which was great and made the trip far nicer, Overtaking everyone with a trailer is a great sport. The only problem was parking at the harbour in peak season with a trailer.

Everything is possible though. Although I really like my new car, I really miss flying down the Welsh lanes with 200bhp in a car that hugged the bends.

Go for it, as said, you only live the once.

Yes its most frustrating, I work indirectly for BMW Munich and this year they will be recalling 30000 M3 engines for new bigend shells or engines, since 1996 BMW have replaced 50000 engines(mostly in the UK) for incorrect bore coating and susequent wear. German reliability.. yeh right their just extremely good at covering it up! Unfortunately nobody beats the Japs though, hence my Trooper now at 116K and only 2 sets of tyres and brakes err.. and thats it.

LOL... Feb this year I too had a similar dilemma!

It didn't take long to decided, infact my mind was made up about 30 secs into the test drive!!!!!

I now have no ability to tow a road trailer, have totally lost the facility of a roof rack, have lost the rear doors, have gained a small boot, cant even fold the rear seats flat and am spending a fortune on petrol...

The car is now no real help when it comes to playing with the boats, but what the hell, life can be far to short to worry your self with daft little things like that!

I brought a Nissan Skyline, the best bloody purchase of my life to date.

Go on, buy it, but make sure its the 20v turbo'd model.....

You most definitely should believe all the Fiat stories. I think I would prefer to buy a car made in Upper Volta than another Fiat. It took me through irritation then absolute fury, then mild hysteria before I just had to laugh at the problems it gave.

Buy their ice cream - get your cars from the Japs.

Get one of these, big boot,Reliable and quite sporty.
