Does anyone have experience of sailing in the Cape Verdes? I'm thinking charter, wind speeds, sea state, rocks, moorings, anchoring etc...

If you go into the liveaboard forum and do a search for Cap Verde, you will find plenty of posts by people that both love and hate the place.

That's the nice thing about this forum; every possible opinion will be thrown at you.

Spent a few days there early last December. The trades had just arrived after weeks of very calm weather. Kai Brossman of Boatcv.com in Mindelo has a small charter fleet and was in the middle of building a marina next to his (small) pontoon. Not sure if it is finished yet. Boatboys watching over your dinghy are a bit of a problem if you anchor out. If you don't pay them it is likely to be slashed or smeared with something very unpleasant. Otherwise the Verde's are a nice change.

[/ QUOTE ]I was lucky then. All they did to my dinghy was fill the fuel tank with beach sand.
