Hi,
The inside of my canvas boat canopy is covered in black spots that I assume to be spider dirt that seems to have stained the fabric.
Has anyone had any success in cleaning these off?
Would a special 'canopy cleaner' be worth a try?

I use Auto Glym soft top cleaner and re proofer. A two bottle kit(with sponge)available from Halfords and elsewhere. It gets rid of spider poo and everything else. The white vinyl seats in the cockpit get the worst spider poo spots and for that I use Mr Muscle Black Mould Remover. It works a treat, but it'll ruin your clothes if you're not careful!

Spider Gone spray is a good way to deter them. I also use bowls of conkers strategically placed and collected annually by my son. Spiders hate conkers.

One thing spiders love is infra red, The only area that always gets it, regardless of spray and conkers is the area around the boat alarm!

My black canopy responds well to Cillit bang black mould remover!

Mind your clothes though, it bleaches lesser materials...

Cheap and effective.

Yep. No creature with more than 4 legs is allowed on my boat and only if sufficiently toilet trained:D

You appreciate how full of fish the Thames is when you chuck a spider over the side. I reckon 30 seconds is the average, then 'bubble gulp!'

Some people have eaten Trout from the upper Thames and caught clonking great Chubb on cheese.

We use Tesco Fabric Foam (found in the auto department) on the inside of ours. Works a treat and costs around £3 a can which lasts us about 3 years. Quick and easy to apply and the results are instant.
