That’s how I felt when I first went on my boat. Biggest mistake I made was going on Mike’s boatI remember times when thirty footers looked like a super yacht.

Really? I love customers like thatif you come to me and buy somthing with out asking the price, i would slap your ar*e. :anonymous:

Urgh, I can think of better ways to waste 8 grands! You wouldnt think so today. Just been told I'm about to get a bill for €8000 to fix the steering and sternthruster![]()
Like all boats I guess. If you have to ask the price you can't afford itBut it does irritate me the way many manufacturers quote a basic price which in reality is nowhere near what a customer ends up paying even for a moderately specced boat
Very true. The price for the counter tops should be £6754 LESS the cost of the standard counter topsI thought that too. I was on the Sunseeker 76. £2.65m base, but £3.34m as shown or £4.0m with VAT. 50% up from list to sale price. Another thing I struggle with is the high cost of options. Included in that boat for example was an upgrade of counter tops to granite in the galley. £6754. I can get 3 or 4 house kitchens done for that cost, not just one pokey boat galley. It must be like the infamous Mercedes option lists where they presumably make all their profit.

Agree, but I assumed a price of £4754 for the standard topsNo, that amount of Granite should be £2k fitted tops.

I half remember to seen a Marsili hydraulic steering in your boat, back when you had to replace one hose during your stay in CF.
And as I was told (I investigated a bit 'cause that's what I've got on the DP), their systems are widely regarded as bulletproof.
Or have you got anything else, maybe? Regardless, what's wrong with it?
Ref the s/thruster, why not remove it and get rid of a useless bit, rather than fix it...?![]()
Try fibre (kevlar usually) reinforced hoses. I’ve had a few burst where corrosion got to the steel reinforcement. Fibre reinforced hoses can’t fail this way. They are not so easy to get and less available still in really high pressure ratings. I’m swapping all mine for this type little by little.Yes one of the hydraulic hoses has failed again and the spoiler compartment is full of hydraulic oil so I'm replacing all of the hoses...
Yes she does, but while there are similarities, it's also very different. If your DP has a similar kind of spoiler compartment aft then I would suggest you try to keep it as dry as possible
With regard to the sternthruster, yes I know its not essential but its certainly nice to have and since its fitted to the boat I want it working!
Thread drift, but in my experience with Ferretti and spoiler (or bathing platform garage) water intrusion the problem comes with having the tender stanchions resting on the flip-able door.
Even at 50kg this is not good news for the door and how it is made, and most tenders on Ferretti are 300 kg or more. That is a lot of pressure.
I have solved this by having the stanchion bases extend out of the door so they put pressure on the bating platform instead then on the door.
Actually there is that also on Ferrettis which makes me even more puzzled at to why so much water gets into the spoiler compartment especially as I make a point of keeping the channel and drain hole clearSecondly, aside from a rubber seal, there is also a very effective water collection channel (if that's the right wording) under and all around the hatch border, draining directly above the w/l.
In my F630 there is a multi purpose pump in the engine room which can be used for clearing all the bilge areas, in addition to the usual bilge pumps, as well as substituting for the grey and black water pumps if those fail. It is an excellent system which I've not seen on any other make of boat but all the same the pick up hose for the multi purpose pump in the spoiler compartment is too large a diameter to effectively clear that compartment of water especially as the hull is quite flat at that pointAnd inside it, on top of its dedicated bilge pump, there is a second one with a hose that goes inside the spoiler compartment, and can suck water from its bottom.
On my boat the sternthruster motor and steering gear are in a separate compartment in the spoiler but they are still subject to any water lying in the bilges and therefore liable to corrosion. Actually I'm not sure who the manufacturer of my hydraulic steering system is only to say I've never had any issues with it other than the hose failuresLastly, both the stern thruster and the rudder actuators are inside this lazarette rather than further astern. This is a bit tricky to explain, and I should find a pic to show the unusual hull shape in the last two feet or so. Anyway, the bottom line is that the only technical bits inside the spoiler compartment are the tiny hydraulic hoses for the trim tabs - and they are all in s/steel anyway.
