Cannes boat show 2018

I nearly did Cannes this year but I had to cancel the flight. Flights from Malta are a bit twisted and wanted to do a lot of things and did nothing so I could only do two days of boat show.
And if I go there I wanted to try full five days and seatrial every thing that moves....

Riva Ribelle looks hot.

I was thinking that. There was security but all that does is create huge mass of people milling about on the road outside, which makes the easiest and best target.

Where are the photos of the ST47 and Navetta 48 then? I like this style of boat and clearly there is a market for them (which is being totally missed by the Brit builders). Interested to see how Beneteau and Absolute are moving the game on in this segment

Until I read your post it hadn’t occurred to me that I didn’t take any photos. But here’s my take: there is a recent plethora of sub 50 foot boats, I don’t know if this is a tax thing or a berth size issue but with modern design (and especially IPS) they have become an interesting segment.
The Beneteau Swift Trawler 47 is a nice boat, very much along the lines of lifestyle trawlers ie like a regular boat only taller. It’s fit out is basic, but truth is that is our style. The flybridge is huge, there is an excellent electronics options, where from a touch screen from either helm the entire boat can be controlled. A hydraulic swim platform is available as is a stylish hard top. The down side is that despite the height it’s still a head banger in many areas and the third bedroom is useless. The real plus point is that it’s shafts and Cummins QSB6.7, my favorite engine. All in with most options (not including a Seakeeper) it should be around €800,000.
The Absolute Navetta 48 is a class above, as in way above. They’ve thought of every detail and the attention and craftsmanship is self evident. It’s a beauty of a boat, a large crew cabin (which I’d be happy to live in) make it a true four bedroom three bathroom boat. With an incredible amount of space that leaves every room a useful size and good headroom everywhere. There is a walk-in wardrobe and very large bathrooms. How they achieved it on the same size boat is a miracle. The IPS engine room with Seakeeper and uprated genny is a joy to behold (to be fair the Swifty was too busy for me to go into the engine room) the fly bridge was just as huge but with proper stairs that a dog could manage (not like the Swift Trawler’s not quite a step but more than a ladder approach). Base price about €800,000 all options just under 1.2m.
The pricing is such that the Navetta 52 is probably a better deal, certainly bigger and even more luxurious. I guess it depends on the size of the berth.

Wow how do you get from a base price of €800,000 to €1.2m with options? I'm guessing a gyro is about €70k, gennie €25k and aircon €25k but what on earth do you get for €400k of options? Solid gold taps and whale foreskin covered headboards or something?

The hardtop, hydraulic swim platform, cassette passerelle, electronics, washing machine etc

Like all boats I guess. If you have to ask the price you can't afford it;) But it does irritate me the way many manufacturers quote a basic price which in reality is nowhere near what a customer ends up paying even for a moderately specced boat

What the Absolute lady said was that the larger the boat the more that they include as basic and the less options are needed. Which led me to conclude that the 52 would suit me better than the 48
