The last photo shows how the plane trees are being affected by the fungus which is spreading like wildfire along the canal. the only answer seems to be felling them and burning on the spot ,which is a massive exercise.
New trees are being planted to replace them, but believe it or not,we actually saw boaters mooring on to the young saplings, the stupidity is hard to comprehend.
The only other issue was the number of plastic boats which seemed to be always in a hurry, despite the speed advice. the wash from them is eroding the banks in places . It would seem that some of the hire companies charge for fuel based on engine hours run, so it saves money to go as fast as possible. Crazy. Minervois Cruisers supply the boat with a full tank and you pay for a refill at the end .In 2 weeks we used 43 litres of diesel.
