Can you use 'King' in boat name?

Hi,
having acquired a new boat, I am considering changing the name. It would be King Arthur, as my previous boat was named Merlin + Arthur as its my son's middle name. I never seen Queen or King used in boat name in UK and since country being monarchy I would like to check first if I won't break any customs.
I sailed on a ship named King City and definitely Part 1 registered. No rhyme or reason behind shis names however there is a city called King City in Canada.

And, I was following a car with a bumper sticker... ' I love a Ridgid Tool'.
I have some pipe wrenches by them, very good.
Not quite a bumper sticker .
I was at traffic lights and saw a sign which said "Bronzing" . I thought good, a potential boaty thing that might be good for the future.

When I drove past it was "Bronzing Salon". In the window it said, "Life is not perfect, but your tan can be".

It might be interesting to see the reaction in a few years time to your boat name 'King Charles'. I doubt that you would be locked up but I don't imagine that you would be able to register it under Part 1.

There's at lot of variety in Norfolk on boats,
But for those of you not living here there's

"Norfolk N Chance" of seeing them.

Even if HRH decides to keep his name of Charles, he'd be King Charles III not King Charles. Just like the aircraft carrier isn't named after the current queen.

Thanks! This give me enough confidence I won't offend anyone :) Now I just need to overcome superstition connected to changing the boat name ;)

No one has said the use of the word King would not give offence - people take offence for the strangest things. You asked whether it would be legal. Your choice looks fine - but some of the other examples of boat names might give offence........and still be legal.

Just imagine a big motorboat called Sin King. It has 6 or 7 beautiful young woman walking around in skimpy bikinis.
On the fly bridge is a shiny old balding man with pale pasty baggy skin wearing a small pair of budgie smugglers.
Then you recognise him as Peter Stringfelow.

See I just spoilt your thoughts of radio checks to the Coastguard.
;)
