Can you see the Scillies from Lands End

I was just going to say, you can see Lands End from St Agnes with the "naked eye", so I guess it works the other way too! On a clear day, of course.

And yes, when are Google Earth going to take some better photos? Is the coverage any better on the other mapping systems?

You've now started a discussion in the office whether the your eye height and the land you're seeing makes any difference....So if Junes issue of YM is late, you've only got yourself to blame /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
 
That'l be on the clear day though me 'ansome. Last year it were June 4th I seem to recollect..... All I bloody see when I go there is the end o' me nose usually! Lovely place tho tis..... on June 4th..... Might go back there again soon if I can see it through the rain and mist.... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was once told that if you view the horizon from approx 6ft eye level ASL, then if you add 12 ft then the horizon distance doubles (approx)
Obvioulsy it is a function of the curvature of the earth, and I am not going to do all the maths:
