Can you see the new years eve fireworks from within St Kats?

No, they are by the London eye, river closed and tickets for the immediate area by the river.
Have often thought it would be a nice thing to do by boat, but in practice no real advantage.

Great, thanks Chris, that will make things a lot easier! Booked in over Xmas, can't get out new Years day, so had decided to stay for the fireworks.
But, if we can't see them, may as well come home early!

To whichever of his friends has the biggest 4K OLED TV and fridge full of beer :)
Thank you so very very much, we will no doubt be huddled round the 13" Black and white 405 line TV in the front room of the only house with TV in our favela. :)
Hopefully the power will be on and the fireworks mask the sound of the rival gangs shooting at each other in the streets outside.

Hello Murv

When are you going up to St Kats? I'm an RCC member with boat up on the east coast. Taking her round to St Kats on Monday for the Christmas period so will keep a lookout for the RCC gang!

Regards

Richard

Hi Richard, we're locking in on the afternoon high tide on Christmas eve.
It's not a club trip, it's only us going up, but we will be proudly flying the RCC burgee.

See you there!

Chris

I'm down again on the 30th so will make a point of coming to find you if you've not escaped by then.

We stayed on the boat for New Year last time. As said previously the fireworks are by the London Eye but hundreds of people out on London Bridge and lined along the river creating an atmosphere and watching for free!

Richard

Look forward to it :) We're there until the 31st, unless the weather has other plans for us of course!

Pretty certain the boat wheezed its way round to St Kats.
Also, the "I" newspaper does claim you should get a half decent view of the fireworks from Tower Bridge. !

Rumour is, another member of RCC has got his boat into Limehouse ?

Yes, made it around with no issues, the force 6 was simply no barrier to our Fairline...
The marina have obviously recognised our high status as we're in with the super yachts.
I would add a picture but can't seem to do it from my phone.

May have a chat with the marina staff re the fireworks then.

.

Just fixed that F number for you !

Can you please hurry back and fill that gap, with that glassfibre house brick of yours, it was rather windy when walking past your mooring yesterday .

Good!

Anyway, we're in no hurry to rush back, the mooring here is far more in keeping with our prestigious vessel.
And, there's only one other T36 up here!

I realise they need to shut the river where the fireworks barges are located but what is the closest a boat can get actually to them before being turned away? If I go to watch the fireworks, I would be cruising down river to London from Mortlake so any closures on that part of the river is what I need to know.

Hi Chris

I'm gutted, not going to make it to the boat tomorrow as I've been in bed with the lurgy since Boxing Day!

Hope you are enjoying your city break despite the weather!

Richard

I know that feeling well, the boat currently sounds like a hospital ward.
Hope you feel better soon, it seems a particularly nasty bug this year!
