CAN outboard fuel tank

Hi
I have a "CAN" 22ltr outboard fuel tank (plastic) and I need a new cap for it. I've googled but found little information and presume the company may have been taken over or is now out of business. I don't really want to fork out for a new tank if I don't need to.
Any pointers would be gratefully received

Maybe empty the tank and take it to an outboard shop or engineer, see if some other brand fits?

Yes, that was going to be the next step, but I wondered if they were now produced under a different brand name
