or do I first need to get

Certificate of some sort?
Proof of ownership?
Proof of insurance?
MOT for the trailer?

or anything else.

Any comments or suggestions would be most appreciated.

It is classed as a Beach Craft and therefore you need no special certification of any sort. I did the same for a number of years with a Hobie Cat with no problems at all.

We take our Laser 2000 down to the Med each year. No problems even though it is strictly above the 'beach craft' category in size and moored in deep water during the day. We have ours on the SSR and I take proof of insurance and SSR cert just to be on the safe side. Probably worth discussing the car insurance with your broker to ensure that it is covered under your Green Card.

The only interest that we seem to attract is from the local beach rescue/police when we practice turning the boat over and recovery. Creates some interest until the realise we know what we are doing. Warm water makes all the difference and we get plenty of volunteers for man overboard drills!!

Have fun...

If your car is English and the trailer is on your English insurance you certainly do not need a French carte grise for it. Good advice to get an SSR though and of course make sure the dinghy is insured.
