i have just purchased an old boat for fishing ,i would like to know who built it its weight and age.the boat is a day cruiser with a small front cabin and an unusual crescent shaped front window.its very pointed at the front, its constructed of g.r.p.
with a blue hull and white cabin gelcoat finish its 15 foot long in total and has a buoyancy tank in the front of the cabin (pointed ) and two rear corner tanks, its displaying huntsman badges but it wasn,t built by fairey,it has two outside seats behind the cabin and a low cut rear section where my outboard sits.its possibly built in the 60s or 70s .it has a rear underside fin which houses the drain plug and a small lift off curved roof section on the cabin top and holes for hand rails .
can anyone help please ?email me back at kenny_burrows@hotmail.com
THIS BOAT WAS POSSIBLY BUILT BY A MANUFACTURER IN COLCHESTER IN THE 70'S.ANY IDEAS WHO WAS BUILDING BOATS THERE ?
IVE POSTED 5 PHOTOS IN THE GALLERY AT WWW.ARWEB.CO.UK/argallery/boaters

Kenny,

A quiet word in your ear. It's not good form to keep repeating the same posting: It's the electronic equivalent of nagging!

Whilst everyone understands that you want to find out about your boat the reason you havn't had a full answer is probably that nobody knows. They would let you know if they did. Honestly! They are all very helpful.

I'ld suggest you leave it for a while.

I hope you don't mind the comments.

Regards

Joe Cole

Had a look at them. Its along the lines of a Mayland fisherman. That could be a starting point. Mayland are based in essex.

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Re: Is Barry a genius or what?

Hows the engine coming along. I was digging about in the garage on sunday evening found all the scaffold and lifting gear.

Umm it looks like an early Mayland, but Im probably wrong on that one.

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Re: Is Barry a genius or what?

I'm afraid I haven't had a chance to move on engine. My last day at the office was yesterday and I'm off to Aberdeen early tomorrow to clear out my Dad's house and go to a wedding. Will call you next week when I get back.

I'm sure you're too modest re the boat but a quick call to Mayland will confirm.

Certainly has a look of a mayland about her, I had a Mayland 17ft and remember the cut away in the transom for the engine and the curvered front screen, the 15ft Mayland had a more pronounced curved front sreen like in your photos, though can't remember if that had the cut away transom. The hull certainly looks like a Mayland. I am pretty sure that this is a Mayland, maybe do another posting with Mayland in the title it would then attract other Mayland owners.
