Campaign to re-instate Massives post!

Re: sleuthing

Explanation above.

Cannot remember the time I offended you but there must have been a reason for I or one of the merry henchmen here removing post -- shouldn't be taken personally as we have a variety of reasons for acting on the few occasions that we do.

Avis and ybw == nil spend as far as I am aware. I wind up spending a fair bit with them though when travelling.

Why Avis anyway?

Re: Explanation

Dear Kim,

Neither of us really has the time for this but I have to ask why the Mirabelle post raised concerns about multiple IDs, as your note implies; "The Mirabella post seemed a bit bizarre and that was what triggered the caution". However, if that's not what you are implying then what concerned you? What unwritten rule did it contravene? And what pattern was there that you saw between MP and Uisteach?

Incidently, satire is bizarre, in the sense you mean.

With regard to the IP address issue itself, I don't think, by chance, (in fact I'm almost certain) I ever used both IDs with the same IP address (logging off and back on again at diff times - with no intention to hide anything from YBW). But, if I'm wrong about that why not warn me first?

With all due respect, I don't think you are being entirely candid.

Finally, don't you think I deserved an explanation earlier?

Anyway, I'll ensure that if I post again I'll keep it focused on solely technical matters.

Re: Explanation

Not pretending to be a know-it-all person, but it seems it was not the content that caused the removal, but another (minor ??) offence. Please do stay away from strict technical posts... it's in no-one's advantage...../forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Rene.

From the T&C:
2.2 Only one user identity is granted per email address. You are strongly discouraged from registering more than one user identity by using multiple mail addresses and/or registering identities that deliberately set out to mimic other identities in use and/or registering identities of a similar or identical nature to persons in the public eye. IPC reserves the right to remove access for user identities that contravene these guidelines.

Re: forum rules

1. if it sounds a bit dodgy, it's not allowed. So swearing, double id's, being nasty and so on are right out.

2. In any event, it's ybw's forum, they provide all the kit and software, so if they say no it's no. In fact, they own all the copyright of anything posted. Which makes it also right out to hoik stuff out off other sites and plonk it here. So, kim owes nobody any explanations, really.

3. It's also right out to be a bit nasty slagging off other boaty things which might land ybw in hot water. This is where MP came a cropper regarding Mirabella, which is subject to usual shutup rules pending investigation and reports. I do slag things off sometimes, but shouldn't. Slagging off particular makes and brands of gear with no factual basis is also right out. The only exceptions to this seem to be Bavaria and McGregor on s'butt, and bayliner on mobochat, cos they are all v cheap and sell loads and loads anyway. But since they sell loads, lots of other peeps get brassed off, so best not slaggem off anyway.

4. It will be a v poor do if Uisteach is limited to only technical stuff. I know that many if not all will be keen to learn more about the japanese poetry, postmodern writing styles and so on. Yes, honest! So, welcome aboard, Uisteach, you're a top chap, certifiable loonie, and hence first rate forumite.

all imho

Re: Explanation

I am apparently too sensible and would very much appreciate a guru so please do not limit yourself to technical sensible stuff..

Just remember Skoda - they loved all the " bad " publicity.

Re: Explanation

It's hard to explain why we occasionally act in certain ways but to attempt some kind of reason we get occasional cases of nutters stirring up a hornet's nest here. They use certain terminology and often use dual IDs into the bargain and we become accustomed to spotting those tendencies, a bit like a good watch officer will spot something in the sea out of his or her peripheral vision.

Fully accept the fact you are not a nutter, just someone having some fun, but I wasn't to know that and so we placed a precautionary ban on your dual ID and canned some posts while leaving your original ID alone.

Why didn't you get an explanation? I was three minutes late for a meeting when I spotted the Mirabella post which, on a quick scan read, looked a bit strange in terms of its content. So I asked someone here to take it out along with anything else that looked a little out of keeping with standard posts until I could check back in at lunchtime.

Apologies for any misunderstanding -- we try to strike a good balance between the original purpose for these forums, discussing boats and related matters, and more lighthearted posts and for much of the time, thanks to the users themselves, it works well. If you very occasionally see us act it will only be in an attempt to maintain that balance and to keep these facilities available for everyone.

Re: sleuthing

Just idly browsing through posts which were written when I was away and saw me name being taken in vain....

How you could possibly think that I would take the time to write such drivel....

Huh the thought of it.... and I thought of you as a man of discernment..!
