Hello everyone.
I am new on here and I am hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge that will be available.
I have just acquired a Calypso 19' yacht (pretty rare as far as I can tell!).
Although it was advertised as in good condition, there are some major faults that need rectifying, and it is in need of a lot of tlc!
Most of the problems, I can sort out, but I am stumped on one. The rudder blade is "steel", or at least I think it is! It is 6mm thick, 1 metre long, 37mm wide (approx. because it is tapered), but has suffered badly with heavy corrosion. It is mounted in a wooden stock, which is mounted to the stern on heavy duty gudgeons and pintles, and it is a lifting rudder. I have trawled the internet trying to find a replacement blade, but I cannot find anyone who makes or sells steel blades. I assume that it would be a solid galvanized steel blade that I need.
I live in the North West of England. Anyone know who, in the area, can help me out with this?
Thanks for any info.
Terry
