A friend has just contacted me, she is in France with her 1989 Moody Eclipse, the calorifier is leaking and she needs a replacement, suggestions where a replacement can be obtained please, I have no idea if it is a special or if there is space for a different type other than original, hope an owner reads this and can help please.

Where is the calorifier leaking? It could be one of the four hoses connected that is leaking, or on the one Moody I have worked on there is a bleed screw that could be loose.
I wouldn't worry about replacing like with like as long as the space is available. On the Moody 31 I have worked on the calorifier is mounted horizontally, and it should be vertical to make full bleeding possible, so if I were doing this I would ensure that the replacement was fitted in the correct orientaion.

Thanks for reply Pete, I do not know any details boat and female owner are in France, I am in UK, just been contacted by phone and asked to assist.

As the owner of the Moody Pete is talking about, perhaps I should note that on the Moody 31 Mk II, the calorifier was an optional extra that (I THINK) was usually dealer installed rather than being installed by Moody. So, there may not be a "standard" calorifier. Certainly people who were part of the dealership she was originally bought from seem to know a lot about it! As Pete says, my calorifier is one intended for vertical installation, but is installed horizontally (there isn't really space for vertical installation). So, if I were replacing it, I would look for one the same size but designed for horizontal installation. I most certainly wouldn't replace it "like for like"!

A possibility is that the pressure relief valve is lifting, which could be the source of the 'leak'. They don't last for ever and can be replaced, but sometimes some calcium salts get in there and a good clean can solve the problem.
