I would appreciate feedback from owners with the same engine config to see if there has been a common problem to mirror my experience.

My kit is just over 4 years old and I had the EDC displays fitted by Volvo to the lower helm soon after the boat was new.

My problem is very very intermittant. Either or both of the engines disconnect the drive, show a 6.4 error, drive light goes out and engine goes to 1,000 rpm.

To recover I put the throttles to neutral, re-engage drive, and throttle up. All recovers which is fine when out at sea but rather hairly in the marina.

Volvo have been very good at trying to fix the problem in the sense that they send someone out at their cost and have changed the world, so they say. Volvo also report that of the 1k odd identical installations I am the only problem - of course! Sadly though the problem persists and always the same.

So has anyone out there with the same engines AND EDC displays got the same problem?

Please send me a message if you have and we can compare notes.

The boat is a Sealine F42/5 and Sealine have also been supportive in trying to get Volvo to fix the problem. It is the intermittant nature which makes it all so difficult. It could be 20 minutes to 20 hours before any problems.

Any info much appreciated.

Ok sorry not the same config but as you say "I had the EDC displays fitted by Volvo" it may help...

I have D4's and EDC. also had major trouble as the fuel senders were single pole and not Volvo units. The fault was intermittent on start up and the alarms would go off and I would have no drive. After 3 attempts by Volvo engineers to fix it I called the manufacturers and they said that they had had some trouble with the fuel senders not being compatible- The fuel senders interact with the EDC and are wired into the engine HCU.

I cut the wires and all has been sweet since. Advice: check that all the feeds in are Volvo ones, you can have all sorts feeding the EDC system, fuel, water etc...
hope that helps

Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue. I have identical setup and problem

A number of TAMD74 & 75 engines have a campaign out to fit an electronic module between the throttles and the rest of the system, which is related to random RPM changes & other symptoms.

If you can send your 10 digit serial numbers then it’s quick to check and see if they are affected; even if it’s not the issue, they should have the unit fitted if applicable.

Hi Andy , paul the owner git me involved in it , I fitted another SPM module but it made no difference.
The fault was the drive dropping out then limp mode.

Now remember the recall on the 2 8 pin connectors on the edc loom just below the main electrical black box , well it turned out it was carried out and the crimp terminals were faulty , they were re fitted and as far as I know all is good .

I had a similar experience with my TAMD 75s in my Phantom 43 .
