Although my boat is usually based at Ocean Village I am currently on the hard at Shamrock Quay.
With this freezing weather we are having I have left tube heaters and a dehumidifier on board plus a low wattage/energy efficient light in the saloon. The marina staff keep an eye on that light, because if it is not lit then either their leckky has tripped, or more likely, my leckky has tripped. I have asked them to contact me if this happens.
Would there be any interest from others based at SQ to put a light on their boat, visible from the outside, so any other boat owner visiting their boat could check up on others? A quick walk round is all that's needed. Just need a berth number or position on the hard.
Whilst I'm sure the marina staff would be vigilant, they have other concerns. A text message from a fellow owner along the lines of "saw your boat today, light still on" would be very reassuring.
I have already conatcted "Elessar" who visits the marina on a regular basis and he agrees to the idea. Others have a fair distance to travel just to check the electricity. ( I have a round trip of 250 miles ). I know of another in Scotland who may be interested - eh Bill?
OK, so any thoughts?
