Seeing as I will be rooting for you lot tonight, I take it you will be belting out Swing Low on Saturday morning with the rest of us.
Is that a deal?

<hr width=100% size=1>

Err you obviously don't understand Celts....

in Wales we support two teams, Wales and anybody that is playing England!! Serioulsy ;-)

I don't believe many will be rallying around England just because coz they are Northern hemi-sphere.

I am however looking forward to a great game, it would appear that we are going to get a great final which I hope will be close, but I think the underdogs are going to win.

Sorry.

<hr width=100% size=1>.....can't be arsed.....

Nope - dont expect any support from the Celts - England bashing is a sport they enjoy - its the only thing they can play and stand a chance of winning. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Mind you the Welsh did give the All Blacks reserve team a bit of a scare.

Er, not forgetting they gave our reserve team a bit of a scare as well

<hr width=100% size=1>

Now you're getting it..... ;-)

It's not just a celtic thing. Nearly all the countries in the RWC competition have either been invaded by or dominated by England at some point in past. Therefore these supporters see it as a friendly, non life threatening way of settling old scores, well at least until the bar opens. Isn't it a pity USA and Iraq couldn't have had a game of rugby???

<hr width=100% size=1>.....can't be arsed.....

But the US and Iraq are working on it.

They've done the invasion thing. Next they'll need to occupy the place for a couple of hundred years, taking what wealth exists back to the States, and at the same time imposing US standards of culture.

Then after a brief bloody war for independance, which pushes some jumped up general with a penchant for genocide into the position of life president they'll all be able to hang around playing baseball and drinking coca cola and Budweiser..

<hr width=100% size=1>

Think I'm understanding now - ah thats right we taught them the game in the first place /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
and they say we didnt leave em anything any good when we departed /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Its gunna be a great game and its down to mental atitude rather than skill now. All that pressure must be amazing. Aus v Eng final, who would have guessed that - the dream ticket for the sport. Lets hope the game is open and flowing and the backs are used alot.

No, absolutely not. England have'nt mastered this new fangled namby pamby running rugby business as they've amply demonstrated so far. What we want is for our pack to grind the Aussies into the dirt (much more satisfying for the true connoisseur and, after all, much more in tune with our colonial imperialist past) and for our Johnny to do the rest

<hr width=100% size=1>

O' Flower of Scotland..

Well com' on Boys You can do it tonight....

Good luck to Wales as well.

And as for the Rugby..........

Good luck to..

Sorry Deleted User, no way.
Can you imagine England winning, we still get Englands world cup victory rammed down our throats ( 37 years ago I think) every time one of the other British nations play. Last thing any Celt wants is to settle down and watch their home team play and instead get highlights of England victory.
ps if any of the other home nations won it would be a British team that won and would be forgotten about by next week./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

<hr width=100% size=1>

indeed
the papers have two headlines on standby for such occasions
British win world cup/goldmedal/world record
Scots/Welsh loses etc. etc.

as i always say
god stuck wales and scotland next to england as compensation

O Flower Of Scotland
When will we see
Your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit Hill and Glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

The Hills are bare now
And Autumn leaves
Lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
That stood against him
Proud Edward's Army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

Those days are past now,
And in the past
they must remain,
But we can still rise now,
And be the nation again,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

0h Flower of Scotland,
When will we see
Your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

Let's all try to memorize this great song, so that we may sing it aloud and with great pride the next time it is played..........

or even better

Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home;
Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home.

I looked over Jordan and what did I see, coming for to carry me home?
A band of angels coming after me, coming for to carry me home.

If you get there before I do, coming for to carry me home;
Tell all my friends I coming after you, coming for to carry me home.

The brightest day that I ever saw, coming for to carry me home;
When Jesus washed my sins away, coming for to carry me home.

I'm sometime up and sometimes down, coming for to carry me home;
But still my soul feels heavenly bound, coming for to carry me home

Scottish Army

Back in 1978, When Scotland's football team qualified for the 1978 World Cup in Argentina (and England didn't), manager Ally McLeod talked up the chances of Scotland not only dong well, but maybe even winning the championship. The song below (there are many versions), belted out at the time, epitomises that starry-eyed view. A recording of the song by comedian Andy Cameron even made it to the Pop charts. Many of Scotland's Tartan Army of football fans even half-believed the optimism. I for 1 did./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

The old song going something like this.....

We're on the march wi' Ally's Army,
We're going tae the Argentine,
And we'll really shake them up,
When we win the World Cup,
'Cos Scotland is the greatest football team,

We're representing Britain,
And we're gaunny do or die,
England cannae dae it,
'Cos they didnae qualify!

We're on the march wi' Ally's Army,
We're going tae the Argentine,
And we'll really shake them up,
When we win the World Cup,
'Cos Scotland is the greatest football team,

Re: Scottish Army

Remind me how far they got on that occasion?

The only song that I associate with both Scotland and Rugby is a traditional air entitled "the Ball at Kerrymuir". Something to do with a social function, and a series of pen portraits of various local worthies, I seem to recall.

<hr width=100% size=1>

Now thats what I call a proper song!!!!
Thing is with all these Celts is they still live in the past!! and always refer to previous victories, instead of looking to the future, Which is why England are always winning!!!

(Now booking ticket for for Siberia)
