Calling all bargain boat finders... Find me a boat!

With two 175's (which I believe may be the same Chevy Blocks as the OMC above).... the SS 25 may be quite thirsty...

Great hull and good looking craft though... which i am sure will have good seakeeping capabilities...

I'm not familiar with the AQ175A's, are they powerful enough for that boat, and what sort of consumption would they use?

Do you have any idea what weight a boat like that would be?

Thanks for the info.

Cheers

Al.

So does that mean the engines could be a problem if they're related to the OMC?

I've never been that sure about Bayliners, but those look not to bad.

I also liked that Trophy I showed you earlier, but someone else has told me no no to a Trophy and a Capri is the better boat.

Some are OK... others are not ...

We were happy with our Trophy, but was a bit different from the one we discussed.

It did have it's flaws, which I indicated... and also know the Cierra have a better reputation as it was made for a different market...

The 80's ones were made to a budget ... and it did show.... later ones struggle to get rid of the reputation these created.... but laike all makes, there are well maintanied ones and others not...

Good luck irrespective...

Not at all... really ...OMC weakness used to be the drives .... the later Cobra's got quite well sorted... and believe the Volvo SX drive share some of the same parts etc...

Weakest spot on all older petrols is the raw water cooling....

What about this Cranchi?

Says single diesel but it's got an LPG conversion. If there is lpg round your way then it could be a good buy. Marine connectors were differnt to service station lpg so if your're considering it's worth a check. i guess cause it's trailerable it could have service station type connector.

Al

I would say the Cranchi is a 5.7 V8 petrol (270 hp)

Are you going to tow this boat?

Will your vehicle tow these bigger craft, some don't appear to have trailers?

IMO I would prefer the smaller (19') newer type, given the budget. That Fletcher that Alf sent the pic of with the Optimax looked quite tasty, and a trailer as well.

A nice late model motor, they are popular over here, especially for commercial work, ususally twin rigs on 23' dive boats.

Good luck mate!

Thanks AndieMac.

I will be towing the boat, SWMBO has a large 4x4 and I am going to buy a smaller SUV for myself tomorrow.
Either car would tow the Fletcher type boats.
I would much prefer the Fletcher, the one you mention in Alfs post is the same as my first boat, which I really liked, but I didn't pay that sort of money when i bought it 7years ago.
I would much prefer the follow on model of that one, the 19Sportscruisr. But am open to all suggestions.

Cheers

Al.

not sure where you intend using the boat LL or Clyde but remember sub 21ft will limit the days you can go out in the clyde

Have a look around for a Sealine 195. Very towable, good accomodation (for the size) We had one for several years and towed it to Yugoslavia (when it was) for a 3 week holiday when the family were little. I actually towed it behind a Sierra. Sealine stopped making that size about 15 years ago so £6k might just be on the nose.
