I understand that if battery power has been disconnected for some time Volvo Penta EVC electronic throttles may need calibrating. Does anyone know the procedure for Volvo D4 engines.
CALIBRATION MODE- calibrates different parts of the EVC system. To enter this mode ; Turn Ignition on. Then press BACK and ENTER for three seconds. This permits the following calibrations. Throttle lever- slip calibration for low speed-Idle speed.
Does this help ????
Hi TIMTAP. Thanks for info. I do not have the EVC display only the standard small control panel that flashes out fault codes. My engines are the pre low speed idle option. On re launch this year the gearing on the stbd drive stuck in reverse. The engine was stopped. Gear lever in neutral . Engine would start but in Reverse gear. Think may have been crud aroung gear cable that dried out whilst out of water for a few months.Probably best in future to activate gear shift mech. with ignition only on, to move actuators. seems ok now.
It was suggested that throttles had lost their position memory whilst batteries disconneted for work, hence re - calibration so they new which position was fwd, neutral and rev!!! Maybe this only applies to later engines?
Hi.
Can't find my manuals, borrowed again and never returned as usual. Found site on Yahoo for Operators Manual when searching "volvo evc throttle calibration" PDF file but for D2 .
give it a try !!! Regards Tim
