i am intending to replace the cabin sole.
can anyone tell me what flooring manufacturers use, and where to source the stuff. currently the flooring is ply with carpet, looked great when i bought the boat but as time wore on ply got soft and carpet wet dirty and loose "Horrible".
i dont want to make the same mistake !
Thanks in advance.

Or the cheap and easy version is to replace the ply and carpet.

Stop the ply going soft by coating it in varnish, or better still epoxy. Stop the carpet from getting wet by by ventilating boat, and by washing the carpet from time to time (once or twice a season?) to remove the salt, which attracts moisture. Stop it getting loose by fixing to the ply with Bostik or similar. Stop it fraying at the edges where you've cut it by 'painting' the edge with Cow Gum (dries clear). Stop it getting dirty by brushing or vacuuming it.

I did that job on a Westerly Fulmar about 3yrs back & my flooring came from Kayospruce (Fareham, Hants). It was a laminate glued to 12mm ply & I understand used extensively by the marine trade. It has a non slip, very tough finish.

There's nothing to stop creating your own laminated floor.
Just as example you could take WBP ply as base and make sure well coated in preserving varnish. The top surface then has glued by epoxy alternate wood type T&G wood strips. Once completed and trimmed - you use a good matt base preserving varnish to give protection and also an element of non-slip.

As to ply and carpet. My boat has been in my possession for approx. 10 yrs. It still has in good condition a ply cabin base and hessian fitted carpet. The carpet is not fixed down as it is cut and hemmed to fit and being hessian backed good quality is quite stiff. I'm a carpet person - nice to step out of bed to instead of cold wood / laminate holly floors ! I only hoover it once or twice a year, but rest of time give it a good sweep probably once or twice a month.

And to be honest if your ply / carpet combo has become wet and 'orrible - I suspect your cabin is not ventilated sufficiently and has a damp problem.
