Ah well I'll just leave you lot on this thread talking to yourselves ;-)

Don't know about anybody else - but I come back from my summer cruise to find the forum is a complete dog's dinner - nothing like it was before - screen all over the place - the number of posts I can view is miniscule and wouldn't change when I tried to edit my options.

I'm off to pastures new. Anyone want to buy a scuttlebut burgee ? - I won't be needing mine any more. Oh and don't use the forum to contact me - as I won't be using it!

You can get me through the web site in my profile, which I guess I will leave around for a while

Bye

Oh seriously, put your dummy back in. The forum NEEDED changing, and I get the feeling you would have posted this regardless of what it changed to.

Give it a bit of time, and you'll get used to this one too. :)

Many people use the Bye Bye message in an attempt to break away from a forum that is costing them a lot of time. They do it in public, use any handy excuse, then run off hoping that they will have killed the temptation to return.

I think that they are concerned about the hold (sometimes addiction) that forums have on its members. There are examples on this forum where (for example) MC has tried a few times to break away and concentrate on his work. Although he never used the Bye Bye message he chose his moments to escape.

At the risk of ruining this thread, if folks check OP's Profile you will see that..................

ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING

For someone that has only posted 205 posts in four and a half years of joining your attitude sounds strange, almost a troll.

It is unlikely that your ''less than a post a week'' posts will be missed that much.

Far better to have stayed and got used to the forum by making more posts.

Is the number of posts necessarily something to be proud of ?

Sure, a high 'post count' could mean that someone has contributed lots of helpful advice, but it could also be the result of numerous posts of the "I agree" and "Me, too" variety (you may have noticed one or two of those in this thread ...), or even relate to many hours spouting self-opinionated cr#p in the Lounge.

Could also be an indication of too much time spent in front of a computer screen, and not enough out on the water methinks ....
