Bye Bye to this forum

Don't know about anybody else - but I come back from my summer cruise to find the forum is a complete dog's dinner - nothing like it was before - screen all over the place - the number of posts I can view is miniscule and wouldn't change when I tried to edit my options.

I'm off to pastures new. Anyone want to buy a scuttlebut burgee ? - I won't be needing mine any more. Oh and don't use the forum to contact me - as I won't be using it!
Reminds me of an angry infant throwing their rattle out of their cot.

If your really gone you'll never see this, if your still around, then good and give it a try. Change can end up being better than expected.

Bye Bye

I came back from holiday last week as well, and I didn't particularly like the new look, actually it wasn't my biggest priority but yes change happens, I presume the old software was creaking at times it seemed so, and now I'm getting used to the new Forum it's fine.

Flounce off if you want but frankly why should anyone else care.

At last posts with new replies go to the top of the forum so you can bump your own posts back to the top
Erm. The old one did that anyway. You just need to be choosy with your settings.

I like the new forum. It's on the same platform as some others I follow. My only gripe is the loss of the "Reply To" facility. Instead we have to use this clunky Quoting regime.

I'm sure that will get attended to in due course.

I think all of you should push off and leave me alone on this forum. I won't miss any of you as I'll create multiple identities all of which will have prejudices or views closely aligned to my own so there'll be no need for a swearword filter, no need for the "reply to" button and best of all Gordon Brown will be discussed with the affection and respect he deserves.

Cheers, Brian.

I thought that there wasnt a reply to, but all I do now is use the last "thingy" on the right, two along to the right of the quote "thingy" and tick quote message in reply.
All Ive got to do now is ask Dan to change my name back to skipper stu

But if you do that and someone quotes you, and someone quotes them it all gets very wordy. See my thread on this in the Forum Whinge Forum.

Lets be charitable to the OP. If he's been away actually sailing he probably missed the attacks of the malaprops which resulted in the premature (or overdue) closing of the old forum. I never saw the attack either, for which I am grateful, but I soon sussed what was happening and why.

I find a funny thing usually happens on the way to the forum...AND I STILL CANNOT FIND ANY BLOODY SMILIES apart from those below that won't cooperate much. Have the Smiley family been deported under the new E border rules or what..I can't find them.

For someone that has only posted 205 posts in four and a half years of joining your attitude sounds strange, almost a troll.

It is unlikely that your ''less than a post a week'' posts will be missed that much.

Far better to have stayed and got used to the forum by making more posts.

Alfie, go to the user CP
Down to edit options.
Scroll down and change to edit with extras
your smiley will return
