Oh yes, I'm pretty sure that the Walker Bay will handle that easily (apropos, did you finally choose the o/b?).
Re.towline, I only tried it with a normal slalom skiboat (with no arch, so towline attached to the center pylon), and didn't have any problem. Well, not because of the towline, that is...
Besides, at the beginning also the speed is much lower than what you see in the clip: 15 to 20 kts is enough to ride on the hydrofoil alone, and that's already great fun.
On the other hand, I guess that the raised towline has its importance when you're aiming at pro tricks and jumps.
 
That is a great clip, and an amazing rider. Unfortunately i'm on doctors orders and can't do anything like that any more that causes sudden decceleration (when you face plant). Shame ..
 
Ouch! Sorry to hear that, but in this case I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
Actually, once you get to handle it properly, the ride is much smoother than anything else (slalom ski, wakeboard, kneeboard, you name it).
But regardless of how good you already are at those, a few face plant at the beginning are unavoidable.
Even the son of a friend of mine who turns 3 buoys at 41' off (!) went badly submarine the first time he tried it.

I haven't done any more re the tender. Didn't get to soton show, too busy with the City melting down :-/. I think I'll just order the Walker Bay which takes 3months (Hypalon is special order and they come from US) and leave the choice of an outboard till the London boat show in January

Still expensive, but it's very well built either, I must say.
And it's in another league compared to any other towable toy, anyway!
Costwise, even if I know nothing first hand about their latest V-38 model, I can't imagine any kind of improvement which might possibly be worth doubling the expense, thus I'd definitely go for the standard.
In the meantime, you might be interested in some theory for winter studies...

PS: re. the City melting down, waddutink, should we already reach our boats and get ready for the universal deluge?

Blimey, you've been skiing with Mr Degasperi?! I thought you were exaggerating when you said 3 at 41off! Now I realise you weren't

Well I'd never get near that. 6 at nothing off is fine for me :-) I have skied at night though, did it with tcm years ago in the Med, when he had the lovely Emma as his crew and she was a mad keen w/skier. It was weird, becuase you couldn't read the water surface. Actually, ice is worse than night time. I used to ski at Theale and Burghfield (nr Reading, 60km west of London) in winter when there was a millimetre or two of ice on the top of the lake, which hurt your ankles I can tell you!

And here I was considering myself and a few friends mad, when we did some courses in a foggy November, a few years ago....!

Must admit that I was cheating with Thomas pic though, I just picked it from the web.
On the other hand, my friends' son which I mentioned before of course knows him, 'cause he attended some national competitions with pretty good results, before the poor sod was too absorbed by uni studies.
So, I did have the privilege to see from the towboat what it means flying through the wake and turning around a buoy at 41' off - absolutely amazing.
On a side note, I would have never imagined how difficult it is to keep a mastercraft prostar straight, with such a skier behind her. Not to mention maintaining constant speed, before perfectpass was around of course.
By Emma, you mean Jones surely? I've seen her on a video, impressive style indeed.

I mean Emma, tcm's stewardess on the Arno Leopard back in 2003-4. There were some pics of her on this forum ages ago. I dont even know her surname, maybe it was "Jones". I dont recall any video of her on here, or are we at crossed purposes??

Weird, hasn't an Emma Jones been UK wakeboard champion, maybe 6 or 8 years ago?
I'm almost sure to have seen a video of some European tournament, held in Italy IIRC, where she won a medal.
Mind, I might be totally mistaken, but the name definitely rang me a bell, and the surname sprang to my mind.
I'll check that with my fanatic friend the next time I see him, he's the one who had the video I'm talking about.

On second thought, I tried googling around a bit.
And found references of Emma Jones in this and also other sites (last paragraph, 1999).
Couldn't find any pic though, so it's hard to understand if she's the same person which you met on tcm boat.
