After some help/advice

I have found a lovely Sealine in Germany and wish to purchase. it is a private deal, no broker.

How do I prove ownership and free of finance etc.

Has anyone experience of doing the same?

Usual advice about ensuring you get originals of all documentation including invoice proving VAT, builders certificate and any invoices/bills of sale for changes of ownership. You will definitely need these to UK register the boat and raise a mortgage; even if you dont want to do either of these, a future buyer might
AFAIK, German registry requirements for pleasure boats are not as onerous as UK and many boats are only registered with yacht clubs so you may not get official looking registration documents
Might be a good idea to consult a marine legal co (Ward & McKenzie?) or RYA for advice on what kind of sale document could be used in this situation
My impression is that German boat owners are very fastidious about their boats so you've probably found a good one
