im contemplating buying a boat from florida (cheaper than uk)
i understand the laws concerning vat the boat i have my eye on is vat paid
came from uk originally .my concern is can anybody recommend a firm that could transport it back to the uk as deck cargo .ive been quoted 10-12 thousand us dollars for skipper .im looking into alternatives, ideally cheaper alternatives.my other concern is the legal side of things ,in uk we would consult a solicitor ,whats the american equivelant .who would take care of legalities .if anybody as experience of buying and transporting into the uk from usa .i would dearly love to hear from you .good or bad .i need to be made aware of any possible pitfalls
thanks in advance

Possible pitfalls:

Non-EU equipment that is onboard
Falling foul of the VAT-man - you really need to check as I think you may still be liable for VAT unless it is the original owner bringing it back to UK.

Why not buy some propriety boat stands about a grand and strap them to the boat so it can be lifted with them affixed "as it were" and send it deck cargo yourself.
Regards

been in touch with peters and may quoted $7000 usd for transport to uk
he informs me as long as vat has not been reclaimed in the uk for boat in question
should be fine ..just waiting for broker to contact seller to confirm .if vat has been reclaimed. im stuck that will put me £12000 over budget .its a no go in that case
so on brokers blurb, saying vat as been paid, means nothing if its been reclaimed .
thanks for the replies fellas ,much appreciated.
