Buying a used motor yacht in Italy / Need some help for sales process

Do you have any reason to only consider Azis?
I'm asking because, with all due respect, there are other similar boats whose build quality is better in more ways than one.
Leaving aside builders that you might dislike just because not very well known and/or not existing anymore, if you like the AZ46 size/type of boat, you would do yourself a favour by looking also at Ferretti 460 or 480.
Their 46 model was also a great boat (actually larger than the newer 460, and closer to the 480), but wouldn't fit your age limit (2005+).

Apropos, another 2c: when looking at a 20yo boat (give or take), a few years more or less are irrelevant.
I'm 100% sure that there are boats out there, built in say 2000, that are much better than some others 10 years newer.
It's the maintenance history of the boat that can make it or break it, much more than the age!
Oi! Hands off Azimuts.

Thanks for your ideas - I am very open for other models.

I like to outline some of our requirements:

Based on our experience of the last 4 years with charter yachts, our research on various models of 45 - 55 ft and many discussions around friends we have set up requirements:

Type:

Motoryacht flybridge with comfort, space, seagoing and good quality for 2 or 4 people / family and friends. Some days/weekends perhaps max. 6 people - no young kids ... we are all older kids.
We (crew of 1 or 2) plan to spend around 10 to 16 weeks per year around the Med. (Italy, Sardegna, Sicily, Adria, Croatia, Greece) for the next 10 years.

Size & Layout:
Max. 45- 50ft / +/- 15m. As we see around the Med. a never ending increase of marina and berthing costs, we think that to stay below 15m is ok. Looking at increasing marina costs for boats in the range 16m - 24m for the comming 10 years seems to be a nightmare and rip off of many owners around the Med.

We found many boat layouts with 3 cabins (6 beds) and a small / unpractical galley: The owner cabin (bow) most good and spacious. The 2nd. cabin (VIP ...) small, separate beds, no headroom, no space. And the 3rd. cabin of +/- 4m2 a "prison" with 2 beds / boxes with no sleeping comfort.

After we discovered the Azimut layout (model 46ft and 50ft fly) with 2 big (master + VIP) cabins we were impressed about this big comfort - for 4 people. If we get an additional crew cabin in the back / motor room this could be practical for me when cruising with 4 guests / friends.

Motor & Propulsion:
As we do not care much to burn some fuel ... there are ever increasing prices. This year we see 2.20 EUR / l in the Med. and I think we will go to 3-4 EUR over the next 10 years - thanks to the "green-bio-people" and the "total-zerro-nothing" CO2 activists all around Europe and the hunger for taxes around all goverments. This is no fun for us motoryacht people.
We look for engines with max. 580hp / or max. 2x600hp = 1200hp - but NO more. Normal gear / shaft drive. We have no need for a speedboat with 34kn.

All the VOLVO IPS systems and the "play games joysticks" are out of consideration. I have seen some bills from collegues with IPS / POD repairs and failures in the range of 25k to 60k EUR ... Volvo engineers are not that smart people.

Budget:
We have set the budget to +/- 300k EUR. This will allow for good sleep, no bank involved, some money left for all the ongoing maintenance, all year oil + lube, lift & antifoul & hull, and other surprises. And we will have good Prosecco and beer in the fridge all weeks long!

If you have some other proposals than an Azimut 46 / 2 cab version please let us know.

What do vou mean with "Oil"? Each engine needs some oil / lube ... depending on type of engine. Has nothing to do with a brand - the C9 of an AZI 46 have normal schedule based on CAT maintenance ... (250 hrs).
Ohhh - sry - typing mistake: It should be Azimut 46 !
....
How can I edit the posts in this forum? All always admin check?
Felice , he said Oi. ! It means don’t criticise Azimuts. There seems to be many 46 Azmuts for sale in the uk , what is your problem.

Ok ... I did not yet find an AZI 46, 2 cabin version !!!, year 2005 + If you find one, let me know.
There are several, well inside your budget. The links below are just some of them - there are others.

Do you care whether the starboard cabin has 2 x twin beds or 1 x double bed?

Twin beds = https://uk.boats.com/power-boats/2005-azimut-46-9671503/
Double bed = https://uk.boats.com/power-boats/2005-azimut-46-fly-9655178/ and https://uk.boats.com/power-boats/2005-azimut-46-9567389/

Thank you! Was always looking around Spain - France - Italy - Croatia ... Found one in France, Frejus to check out.
I prefer the starboard cabin with 1 double bed - but 2x twin could also be ok.

Jisr realising that some boats listed as "2 cabin" are in fact 3 cabin. The last link I gave (ending ....389) is 3 cabin. There are plenty of others around 2005 in your budget, online.

Ferretti’s are lovely boats. Well built. However, for me, the styling is not as good as Azimut. Fortunately we are all different, so this is a personal reflection.
Yes - it's some personal opinion: I have been looking at many (older) Ferrettis ... 500, 460, 480 ... And of course a very good brand and good quality. For me there are some facts that I do not like: Most of them have helm on port side and switch panel / systems / electricity at unusable positions. I like the traditional way: Captain / helm is on starbord side.
The layout and interior of Ferretti is not my style - If you look at a 60ft or 70ft from 2020 ... and new, they are great - but far away from my budget.

Correct. I was deliberately not linking to UK boats. There are lots of Az46 2005+ available in the med.
Yes - but I think I have seen most of them now and contacted the agents ... Result is 90% are 3 cabin - 5% are gone / sold within February. So ... not much left for the 2 cabin version ... At the moment I check out two possibilities: one in Spain, and one in SF ...

Buying a used motorboat in SPAIN: How does the legal / contract / buying process work in Spain?

How do you deal with a yacht broker in Spain ?
Normal legal / contract process; is there a layer involved ?
Any special considerations with law, contract, seatrial, survey in Spain ?

After purchase the plan would be to sail the yacht to Italy / and register under Italian flag or San Marino Flag.
