I have raced a sailing dinghy on Southampton Water for many years but now want to try a different and more relaxing kind of sailing. The thought of a small cruiser on a mooring that I can use to explore the Solent really appeals and I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of cruisers on the market for the same sort of money as a good dinghy.
Looking at a couple of boats this weekend. One is 18ft and the other 22ft and either could be had for a couple of thousand. There seems to be alot on the market at this sort of money and, on the assumption that both vessels are sound, it seems to me a great way to have some fun and find out whether this sort of sailing is for me.
Clearly at this end of the market I am looking at something that is nearly 40 years old but IF it has been well cared-for AND it is worth what I pay for it then can I go far wrong?
Thanks
Chris
